Confessions of a Corporate Insurgent and Intrapreneur
Our guest in this episode is Gib Bulloch, speaker, writer, and consultant. A self-described ‘Corporate Insurgent’, Gib believes passionately in the power of business to change the world and in the power of the individual to change the world of business.
After an early career spent at BP and Mars, Bulloch’s epiphany came from a year as a business volunteer with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in the Balkans in 2000. Over the following 15 years, Gib founded and scaled Accenture’s global ‘not-for-loss’ consulting business, Accenture Development Partnerships. He left Accenture in 2016 to write his first book, ‘The Intrapreneur: Confessions of a Corporate Insurgent’ and to explore new ways of supporting purpose driven insurgencies within the corporate world.
We connected with Gib as we saw a lot in common around our work on radical career shifts, especially the ‘Profit to purpose’ transition. We talk about his epiphany that led him to launch Accenture’s Development Partnerships, what it means to be a corporate insurgent, the new initiative he is leading to create a business “decelerator” on the Isle of Bute in Scotland, and much more.
